This Eclipse that is happening on 20 April 2023 is the first of the year 2023. It will start from morning at 7.04 am and will end on 12.29 pm
Though this eclipse would not be visible in India. It will be visible from some countries like Australia , South Eash Asia , Pacific Ocean , Antarctica and the India Ocean.
In this eclipse the sun will form a ring shape , called ” ring of fire”. This ring shape formation would be visible only for few seconds.
The formation is produced when the shadow of the moon moves across earth, making it a transition to another.
This eclipse is special as in normal cases a solar eclipse occurs when the moon comes in between Earth and the Sun , casting a shadow on former’s surface. But in this case the moon’s shadow moves across earth , hence the formation of the ring of fire.
EFFECT OF SOLAR ECLIPSE
A solar eclipse, also known as a Surya Grahan, occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, casting a shadow on the Earth’s surface. In many cultures, solar eclipses are believed to have an impact on people and the environment. Here are some possible effects of Surya Grahan on people:
Beliefs and superstitions
Beliefs and superstitions:
Many people believe that a solar eclipse can bring negative energy and bad luck. Therefore, they follow certain rituals and avoid specific activities during the eclipse.
Solar eclipses have been the subject of many cultural beliefs and superstitions.
For example, some people believe that eclipses are a sign of impending disaster or that they can bring negative energy and bad luck.
In some cultures, people avoid eating during the eclipse, while others take a bath before and after the event to purify themselves.
While these beliefs are not based on scientific evidence, they are still followed by many people.
Physical effects
Physical effects:
There is a widespread belief that during a solar eclipse, the Sun emits harmful ultraviolet rays that can cause eye problems and other health issues.
Hence, many people avoid looking directly at the eclipse or stepping out during the eclipse period.
During a solar eclipse, it is essential to take precautions to protect oneself from the harmful ultraviolet rays emitted by the sun.
Looking directly at the sun during an eclipse can cause damage to the eyes and lead to vision problems or blindness.
Therefore, it is recommended to use proper protective gear, such as eclipse glasses or a solar filter, or to observe the eclipse indirectly through a pinhole camera.
It is also common for people to stay indoors during the eclipse period.
Psychological effects
Psychological effects:
Solar eclipses can create a sense of fear and anxiety in some people, especially those who are prone to anxiety or have pre-existing mental health issues.
The sudden darkness during a solar eclipse can create a sense of fear and anxiety in some people.
This fear may be heightened by
cultural beliefs that associate eclipses with negative events. Some people who are prone to anxiety or have pre-existing mental health issues may experience an increase in anxiety during the eclipse period.
Old age people can feel lonely and can think of suicide in some cases. Best is to be with them and keep talking to them frequently during 1 week before and 1 week after solar eclipse.
Environmental effects
Environmental effects:
A solar eclipse can have an impact on the environment, such as a drop in temperature and changes in animal behavior.
During a solar eclipse, the temperature can drop as much as 5-10 degrees Fahrenheit due to the blocking of the Sun’s rays.
This temperature drop can affect the behavior of animals, causing them to behave differently than usual.
For example, birds may return to their nests, and animals may become more active or less active than normal.
Additionally, the eclipse can cause a temporary disruption in the Earth’s magnetic field, leading to changes in weather patterns.
Best way to look at Solar Eclipse
We recommend that you should not try to look at solar eclipse directly or even with protection. The problem is that the space where the rays of the sun crosses has been reduced to so small space that the intensity of the rays increases multiple time and hence there is a chance of the damaging of the eyes.
But in case you can’t resist watching it , please use protection of welding glass or through some standard telescope that too approved for looking at solar eclipse and not through some cheap telescope.
